The saponin component is easily decomposed during a long heating process, and the physiological activity is lowered.

Supercritical CO2 extraction equipment is a process in which carbon dioxide is used as a solvent in a supercritical state (temperature: 31.3 ° C, pressure: 7.15 MPa), and its separation property is extracted by utilizing its high permeability and high solubility. We conducted a small-scale experiment on the supercritical CO2 extraction of starfish saponins. A supercritical fluid extraction process of saponin was designed and developed based on the characteristics of starfish saponin. The study on the extraction of starfish saponins by supercritical CO2 using starfish as raw material was completed. Firstly, the starfish was freeze-dried and pulverized. The effects of extraction temperature, extraction pressure, CO2 flow rate and additives on the extraction rate were studied. The process research was carried out with the comprehensive index of yield and purity as the evaluation standard. Therefore, it can reduce costs, save time and bring greater economic benefits for enterprises.
